1. Information We Collect

Dishcision collects minimal data to provide its core functionality:

• Locally Stored Data: Your pantry items, favorite recipes, meal plans, grocery lists, cooking history, and app preferences (such as theme and dietary preferences) are stored exclusively on your device using local storage. This data never leaves your device unless you choose to share it.
• Anonymous Device Identifier: When you rate or report community recipes, a randomly generated anonymous identifier is created and stored on your device. This is used solely to ensure one rating per recipe per device and to process content reports. It cannot be used to identify you personally.
• Community Recipe Submissions: If you choose to share a recipe, the recipe content (title, ingredients, instructions, cook time, servings, difficulty, and optional author name and photo) is uploaded to our servers and made publicly visible to other users.
• Camera Access: If you use the ingredient scanner feature, the app requests access to your device camera. Photos taken are processed locally and are not uploaded to our servers unless you attach one to a community recipe submission.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide recipe suggestions based on your pantry ingredients
• To manage your meal plans and grocery lists
• To track ingredient expiration dates and provide reminders
• To display community recipes and ratings
• To moderate community-submitted content for appropriateness using automated review
• To improve recipe recommendations and app functionality

3. Content Moderation

Community recipe submissions (including text and images) are reviewed by an automated moderation system to ensure content is appropriate and food-related. This review happens at the time of submission. We do not store or use this content for any purpose other than moderation and displaying the recipe.

4. Data Storage and Security

• Local Data: Pantry items, favorites, meal plans, grocery lists, and preferences are stored on your device only. Uninstalling the app will delete this data.
• Server Data: Community recipes, ratings, and reports are stored on secure servers. Recipe images are stored on our servers when uploaded as part of a community recipe.
• We use industry-standard security measures to protect server-stored data.

5. Third-Party Services

Dishcision integrates with the following third-party services to provide recipe data:

• TheMealDB: Provides recipe data including titles, ingredients, instructions, and images. No personal data is shared with TheMealDB.
• Dishcision Originals: AI-generated original recipes created with OpenAI. No personal data is involved in recipe generation.
• Pexels: Provides food photography used within the app. No personal data is shared with Pexels.
• OpenAI: Used for automated content moderation of community recipe submissions and recipe enhancement features. Submitted recipe content (text and images) may be sent to OpenAI for review. No personal identifiers are included.

Each third-party service operates under its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review their respective policies.

6. Children's Privacy

Dishcision is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information through a community recipe submission, please contact us and we will promptly remove it.

7. Your Rights

Because most of your data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it:

• Delete local data: Clear the app's data through your device settings, or uninstall the app.
• Delete community content: Contact us to request removal of any community recipes or ratings associated with your device.
• Report content: Use the in-app report feature to flag inappropriate community recipes for review.

8. Data Retention

Local data is retained on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. Community recipes and ratings are retained on our servers indefinitely unless you request deletion or the content is removed for policy violations.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
